How to Create Stunning AI Art With Detailed Prompts

Good AI art starts with good words. In this post I share how I write detailed prompts to make my images look amazing. Simple steps you can try today.

Why Details Matter So Much

When I started making AI art, my images looked bad. They were blurry. They had no style. I did not know why.

Then I learned one thing. The AI only knows what you tell it. If you write little, you get little. If you write a lot, you get more control.

So details matter. This is the biggest lesson I learn.

A prompt like "a cat" gives you random cat. A prompt like "a fluffy orange cat sitting on old wooden table, soft morning light, close up" gives you something real and nice.

See the difference? More words means more control.

Start With the Main Subject

Every good prompt needs a clear subject. This is the main thing in your image.

Write it first. Be clear about what it is.

Do not say "a person." Say "an old fisherman with grey beard." Do not say "a house." Say "a small stone cottage with red door."

In my experience, the AI works better when the subject is simple to understand. One main thing is enough. Do not put ten subjects in one image. It gets messy.

Add the Setting and Background

After the subject, tell the AI where it is. This is the setting.

Is it in a forest? A city street? A dark room? Say it.

I found that background makes a huge change. Same subject in different setting feels totally different.

For example:

  • "a robot standing in a busy neon city at night"
  • "a robot standing in an empty desert at sunset"

Same robot. Two very different moods. The setting does this.

Control the Light

Light is my favourite trick. Many people forget about it.

Light changes everything. It makes image feel warm or cold. Happy or sad.

Try these light words in your prompt:

  • soft morning light
  • golden hour
  • harsh shadows
  • moody dark lighting
  • studio lighting

Just adding "golden hour lighting" made my photos look ten times better. This is very helpful tip. Try it next time.

Tell the AI the Style

Style is how the image looks and feels. Is it a photo? A painting? A cartoon?

You must say this. If you do not, the AI guesses. And it guesses wrong many times.

Some style words I use often:

  • photorealistic
  • oil painting
  • watercolor
  • 3D render
  • pencil sketch
  • anime style

You can also name an art movement. Like "impressionist" or "art deco." These give strong results.

Be careful with artist names. Some tools do not like them anymore. But style words always work.

Think About the Camera

This part is like being a photographer. Even if you never hold a real camera.

You can tell the AI what kind of shot you want.

  • close up shot
  • wide angle
  • from above
  • low angle looking up
  • macro shot

Camera words change the feeling a lot. A low angle makes subject look big and powerful. A wide shot shows the whole scene.

I also add lens words sometimes. Like "85mm lens" or "shallow depth of field." This gives that nice blurry background. It looks professional.

Add Mood and Color

Mood words help too. They set the feeling.

Words like "peaceful," "dramatic," "lonely," or "joyful" push the image in one direction.

Colors also help. You can say "warm orange tones" or "cold blue color palette." This keeps your image looking clean and planned.

I like to pick two or three colors only. Too many colors make the image confusing.

Put It All Together

Now you have the pieces. Let me show one full prompt.

"A young woman with red hair standing in an old library, tall wooden shelves full of books, soft golden light coming from window, warm color tones, photorealistic, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, peaceful mood"

See how each part does a job? Subject, setting, light, style, camera, mood. All together.

This is the order I use most times. But you do not need to follow it exact. Play with it.

My Last Advice

Do not write the perfect prompt on first try. Nobody does.

I make one prompt. I look at the result. Then I change one thing. I try again.

This is how you learn. Small changes teach you what each word does.

Keep a note of prompts that work. I have a file full of my best ones. When I need art fast, I copy and change them.

Start simple. Add details slow. Soon your art will look stunning too. Good luck.
